100 Mile Ruck March Challenge
Team Porter — 100 miles, side by side
This year marks the second annual 100-Mile Ruck March Challenge for Why Me and Sherry’s House. Last year, Rick competed and I worked on the planning and support teams. I was so impressed by his and the other competitor’s commitment and determination in this event and decided early on, I was in for year 2!
Here’s the kicker though…Rick and I are going to ruck it TOGETHER. Yup. 100 miles, 25 miles per day, through likely intense heat, humidity, and even those steamy July thunderstorms. Will we cross the finish line hand-in-hand or at each other’s throats? Will we BOTH even cross the finish line? Only time will tell. But I’d bet on us.
This fundraiser was hugely successful last year with all proceeds, both from our athlete donation pages and our nightly events, going directly to Why Me and Sherry’s House. This charity holds a special place in both our hearts. When you speak with the selfless individuals who have created and run Why Me on a daily basis, you can’t help but be in amazement of what they’ve built. When I hear the words spoken by the families whose lives have been touched by this remarkable organization, I realize that the struggles and difficulties we will face during this ruck march aren’t even a fraction of the battles these families go through every single day. Their strength and courage and love for their children is awe-inspiring, and I feel so blessed to have this opportunity to support them in some small way.
Please contribute if you are able to. All the money we raise goes directly towards assisting and improving the lives of a family in their daily fight against childhood cancer. Every dollar truly does make a difference. Thank you from the bottom of both our hearts.
See you at the finish line!
